Meet The Team
Laura Kay Brighton
Founder
Laura has an associates in Applied Science in Horticulture from Utah State University, graduating in 1996. She met Tom in her Pomology class, apparently the study of apples is fertile ground for love to blossom. Tom and Laura were married in 1997. Laura worked alongside Tom as a grower in the early days of their marriage and fast developed a passion for growing beautiful flowers.
In the fall of 2002 Tom and Laura jumped on the opportunity to be their own boss, and purchased a small nursery, launching Laura Kay's Garden Center. Tom was adamant the business be named for his dear wife, the heart and soul of the business.
Tom Brighton
Founder
Tom Obtained a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from Utah State University back in 1997. Since that day, Tom has been putting his green thumb to work for several growers near and far. Tom spent 5 years as a head grower in Utah, Idaho, and Colorado, managing a wide variety of greenhouse crops. Tom speciaized in putting his knowledge and extensive experience to work growing the absolute best annual flowers in the state. Tom simply will not compromize on his commitment to best-in-class quality in all our in-houes grown plants.
Jeff Brighton
Co-Owner
Not everyone can be a plant whisperer. While his wife, brother, and sister-in-law have degrees in Hortuculture, Jeff has an MBA degree from Brigham Young University. Jeff spent much of his career in retail management and brand marketing. After nearly 2 decades working in an office environment, Jeff couldn't be happier trading his desk and computer for a hose and a soil bin. And fear not, Jeff is not too proud to refer your plant question to his well trained and knowledgabe family member partners.
Sarah Brighton
Co-Owner
Like Tom and Laura, Sarah also has a degree in horticulture, from Utah State University, graduating in 2001. Additionally, Sarah did some college coursework in landscape design and moonlights as a designer. Sarah spent most of the next 20 years raising a crop of beautiful children and working in the healthcare industry. In 2021, along with her husband, Sarah is now spending her days growing flowers and helping shoppers select the perfect plant for their outdoor space. Sarah's energy and attention to white-glove customer service have made her a fast favorite of many of our shoppers who love Sarah's willingness to take the time needed to select the perfect plants for every landscape.
